"Commonwealth"
Author: Ann Patchett Brokenness can bring people together, and it can tear them apart.
In a sentence, that's how I'd describe this book. It's captivating, it's raw, and it's all too relateable. I love the way Ann Patchett writes, with such realness and description. From the first page to the last, she puts the reader in the middle of the story, feeling the same feelings as the characters, seeing the same things as the characters.
With a storyline that spans five decades, Ann weaves the reader in an out of the character's lives, walking through the splitting and merging of families in a way that will both break your heart and make you laugh: she brings 3-D humanity to a story printed in one dimension.
Whoever you are, whatever stage in life you are, you will enjoy this authentic work of fiction.
